hey there
would you tell me tonight
is the world gonna end in fire?
or be pulled down by its own strife?
is there a way of saving?
can we conquer this fear?
hey there
i want to hear it tonight
before i can only cry tears.

The Clans are peaceful. They have what they want. They, quite simply, don't need anything else. They are grateful for everything they have, and never forget to pay their daily respects to StarClan. Nobody fights with anybody else; the loners, rogues, and kittypets are all accepted, if only occasionally tolerated, for who they are.
Nobody has done anything to offend StarClan.
Nobody.
-------------------------------------------------------------
And yet, one morning, a medicine cat apprentice wakes up with a strange dream. One where a strange cat, outlined by flickering flames, tells him a strange verse. The apprentice doesn't understand it, and tells his mentor. But the medicine cat doesn't know either, and though s/he informs the leader, the leader decides not to do anything about it. Besides; they haven't done anything to make StarClan angry, life is good, and they've been at peace for moons. What is there to worry about?
The verse is forgotten, even by the med. cat apprentice, med. cat, and leader who knew about it in the first place.
Then, slowly, day by day, the temperature begins to climb. A small fire starts on the moors of WindClan, one that is quickly extinguished.
But soon it is terrifically hot.
A drought occurs in RiverClan, lowering the water levels to the bare minimum. It can no longer hold fish.
Enough fires start in WindClan territory that they are forced to move in with ThunderClan, who barely has enough food and water for it's own Clan, let alone an extra.
ShadowClan has gone deep into their territory, emerging only when necessary and not hesitating to take from other territories. This starts a fued with RiverClan.
Meanwhile, nobody can contact StarClan, even though they try and try. StarClan are trying to contact them, but are powerless to do so; maybe the sun's heat is affecting them too, making their connections dangerous and unstable.
The kittypets go into their houses.
But the loners and rogues are forced to, very slowly, move into the Clan's territory to find more water.
ThunderClan finally presents a solution. What if every Clan were to move into one territory? That way, there wouldn't be any trouble with prey or water.
The Clans agree, and along with several rogues and loners, move into TC territory.
They can now hunt freely, and commit all of their strongest warriors to hunt for all four Clans. This makes living easier on all of them.
But RiverClan and ShadowClan still hold grudges against each other, and a few fights can break out. Whenever ThunderClan and WindClan try to interfere, they’re accused of favoring one side – even though that isn’t the truth. The two neutral Clans then can’t really interfere or anything, because they don’t want to get pulled into the fight as well.
Then, one day, a elder from ShadowClan dies from lack of water. ShadowClan, in it’s grief, spreads the rumor that the elder died because a RiverClan warrior refused to give him water. RiverClan is furious, and denies the accusations, but ShadowClan then accuse RC of being in denial and trying to cover up for what they “obviously” did.
The two Clans have a face off in the TC camp, and yet another fight breaks out. But it’s more serious than any of the others so far.
The leaders of TC and WC order their warriors not to interfere, but a few of their warriors jump into the fight anyways. So, in a way, the Clans are “killing” each other through their own fear and hate (hence the line: or be pulled down by it’s own strife).
Finally, a WC warrior/apprentice/other – female – jumps up onto somewhere tall (the place the TC leader makes his announcements) and yells out “stop!” Some cats stop fighting, but not all. The leaders of TC and WC order their warriors to go into the fray and pull apart the fighting cats, which they do. Soon, everybody is listening to her.
She goes on to make a speech about fighting. The end result is that all of the Clans are thoroughly ashamed of themselves, and realize fighting isn’t the best way. After this, everybody works together.
You can add whatever else you want here – more fights, a romance or two, etc.
But the upshot of it all is that one day, the Clans wake up and it’s cooler out. As the days progress, the temperature starts to fall. They start to hope that, maybe, this nightmare is almost over. And then one day, it rains.
Like, a lot.
After which the Clans return to their own territories, establish their boundaries, etc. They have to work to re-build their clans, though, because fires destroyed parts of every clan’s territory.
